Wenn Engel singen
Music film for Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen/Arte
Das Hilliard Ensemble
The film accompanies the best known interpreters of old and new vocal music during their summer courses in the romantic surroundings of Schloss Engers on the Rhine. A musical journey through the centuries, from Perotin up to contemporary compositions, written especially for the ensemble, sung with tremendous precision and celestial clearness by an ensemble, which is respected for its breath-taking chant worldwide. Apart from the music the film directs the attention to the singers, examines backgrounds, and the members of the ensemble get a substantial chance to speak about their “floating sculptures of sounds”.
